32 young minds reshaping Africa radically: MARY MARTINS

When your Personal objective is to empower the less privileged for a better society, you're undoubtedly responsible. But anyone can claim anything on paper or by mouth, today, you'll meet an intelligent, easy going lady with the strength of steel who hails from Jimeta, Adamawa State. Without further ado, here is a bastion of radical community development & reproductive health meet Mary Martins!

After her primary School education at ECWA Kauna Primary School Bauchi, Mary proceeded to Government Girls College Bauchi. Then She bagged a National Diploma in Business Admin & Management from the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi & proceeded to bag her HND in Business Administration and Management from the same institution. As of today, she is studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Management at the University of Maiduguri.

From JUNE 2003-2005, Mary was a Peer educator during the Young Men Christian Association & YES Project. She efficiently and effectively spearheaded advocacy and sensitized the community on
the danger of HIV/AIDs, drug abuse, STI/STDs.

She was a Peer educator for the Society for Family Health/ RHISA project. Mary conducted community awareness to young people and the less privileged on HIV/AIDs, DRUG ABUSE, STI/STD

Mary was a Program official at YMCA/SFH (CHIPAC) integrated approach to HIV/AIDs (USAID funded project). She Coordinated activities in 3 communities, supervised the activities of IPC conductor and taught Sex education in Bauchi prison.

Mary coordinated the YMCA/LEAD Project (USAID funded project) where she coordinated all activities of the lead project, monitored and mentored the team, community and also sent monthly reports.

She is currently the M&E OFFICER at the YMCA/LEAD project
Her Main tasks include:
Developing M&E work plan, designing attendance sheets for the program activities.
Monitoring the activities on the work plan, identifying the project input/output, outcome, impact, and successes.
Reporting to the LEAD M&E unit.

Mary Martins is not only a trailblazer but a skilled & thoroughly trained reproductive health facilitator & coordinator. She has had trainings on:

Comprehensive integrated approach on HIV/AID prevention and care
(CIHPAC) training on project planning and Implementation by (SFH/USAID)
Leadership Empowerment Advocacy Development on strategic plan and community development (LEAD) programmed implementation training by RTI/LEAD 2013
Capacity building Training on Strategic Planning organized by RTI/LEAD 2013
YMCA/YES project training in peer education 2003
Capacity building training on ethic and value organize by RTI/LEAD 2013

To be candid, such a challenging, socially responsible & understandably busy person such as Mary Martins who has improved (and continues to improve) the lives of thousands of rural dwellers, less privileged people & youths is thought to be serious all the time, with no time for fun (yes, Mary in the primary school poems had a lamb, not Mary Martins!) but apart from a voracious love for reading educational & inspirational books, Mary is an avid traveler.
